Portland! The Renegade Mini Market Craft Fair is Coming!

Hello, folks!

I'm thrilled to be on the roster for the Renegade Craft Fair's first-ever Renegade Portland Mini Market. I've been a fan of Renegade since its early days when my sister, Mandalanda, sold her goods at one their first LA events.

It's gonna be a good time with so many fab makers, so I hope I see you Portlanders there!

Summer Show Roster

Every Pacific Northwest resident knows our beloved summers are a thing to savor. Even the vampire types have to admit: after nine months in a state of damp grayness, it feels amazing to reconnect with the sun.

One of my favorite ways to sun-dose is at outdoor art and craft fairs, swap meets, farmer's markets. At a good bazaar there's always something delightfully weird or interesting to see.

They're prime for people watching, engaging the senses, and checking out local and handcrafted products, edibles, artists, and performers. Looking for shows to attend? Here's where I'll be this summer:

www.punkrockfleamarketseattle.com
Punk Rock Flea Market

The PRFM website describes some of the treasures you'll find at the event: arts, crafts, comic books, belt buckles, bike parts, jewelry, vintage clothing, fine furniture, stereo equipment, jams and jellies, bras and panties, cakes and cookies, tools, magazines, records, musical instruments, zippo lighters, walking shoes, smoking accessories, and untold riches of punk rock paraphernalia....Our “Punk Rock” name refers as much to the DIY spirit of the event as it does to any particular music or lifestyle.

The first time I sold Knuckle Kiss Jewelry was at PRFM. KK has had a couple of growth spurts since then, so I'm thrilled to return with new pieces. I'll be there with some Knuckle Kiss standards, samples and one-offs, sale items, cheap jewelry supplies, and even some never-worn and gently used shoes and clothes.

Grab a drink while you're at it and stay for the bands. I hear Bucharest Drinking Team will be there and they are worth seeing. Entry is a buck with proceeds benefiting the Low Income Housing Institute. I'll be vending with artist and pal Rocio Arreguin.

Punk Rock Flea Market @ Underground Events Center in Belltown. Saturday, June 7th, noon-10pm (but we'll be leaving earlier in the evening).

24th Annual Shoreline Arts Festival

This free, kid-friendly community event has something for everyone: an artist marketplace, performances, hands-on art and demos, a food court, and cultural exhibits, including the 18th Annual Philippine Festival.

This will be my first time vending at this event, so come by and say hello!

Shoreline Arts Festival @ Shoreline Center. June 28 & 29, Sat 10am-6pm & Sun 10am-5pm.

Urban Craft Uprising Wholesale Event

If you're a store owner or buyer, you'll want to beat the weekend UCU crowd and come to this free one-day event.

It's only open to wholesale buyers, so if you know any shops carrying high quality, independently produced goods, send them to UCU! Advanced registration required.

Urban Craft Uprising Wholesale Event @ Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Monday, July 14th, 10am-4pm.

Hope to see you at one of these events. And don't forget the sunscreen!

Holiday Season Recap: Part 1, Patchwork

Happy 2014!

I've had little time to collect myself after my whirlwind holiday season and momentous 2013. But I want to share some photos from last month's shows before we get too far into the New Year.

I did two craft fairs last month: Patchwork Santa Ana and Crafty Wonderland in Portland.

First up, Patchwork

Ben and I had plans to visit my family in California during Thanksgiving, which coincided with the Patchwork Show in Santa Ana on December 1st. My sis, who lives in Orange County, is a Patchwork veteran, having sold Mandalanda, her collection of accessories, at several of their events. So we teamed up and applied to the Winter show together. And we got in!

Here we are sharing a booth space. A cute dog caught our attention, thus the turned heads!

Mandalanda makes bags, wallets, and other accessories from old hardback books!

Clever card holders/wallets by Mandalanda.

A shot from early in the day. Ah, the blue beauteous sky, my low vitamin D stores ache for you.
My pops and his new Sweet Perversion tote bag.

Look! People wearing sandals, shorts, and sleeveless tops! In December! Because it was nearly 80 degrees!
Patchwork had mobile pop-up shops and food trucks, like this dope book mobile.

Stay tuned for photos from Crafty Wonderland! I hope the New Year is off to a great start for you.

Cheers,
Angela

Oddmall Seattle 2013 Recap

Some booth pics and favorite finds from Oddmall Seattle 2013!

Me and Rocio, my booth mate

I picked up one of those Fox prints from rocio prints.

The Jaguar is my next rocio prints purchase! www.etsy.com/shop/rocioprints

Goodies!
Rocio picked up this fantastic print by artist Eric Petersen. His work is so well done and clever! www.ericpetersen.us.com

And the cutest butt award goes to this illustration by Stasia Burrington! What a talented
gal! I picked this up as a birthday card for my husband. (Hopefully he doesn't read this
before his birthday on Monday!) www.stasiaburrington.com

My friend and her family stopped by Oddmall and picked up this Cat Donut from Marnin Saylor! They had THE BEST
booth at Oddmall. www.marninsaylor.com

End of Summer Update

At the end of summer, I often feel as if I hadn't done enough to enjoy it. I didn't camp like I thought I would or go on any big trips. But I tried to be productive when it came to Knuckle Kiss.

It's like that Aesop fable about the ant and the grasshopper. I tried to be more like the ant. Fingers crossed for a bountiful fall and winter.

A few weeks ago I dropped off a batch of jewelry at Twilight Gallery and Boutique in West Seattle. I'm thrilled to have some pieces in their boutique, which features a great selection of jewelry, cards, accessories, prints, and more.

Twilight also has a rotating exhibit of artists in their gallery space. The current exhibit is the Iconic Women Series by Kristina Griffith and it's beautiful.

"Jaguar" by Rocio Arreguin 2013

And, a week from today, I'll be vending at Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird with my friend, Rocio Arreguin! She makes fabulous illustrations and paintings.

I'm loving her new series of anthropomorphized animals framed by wonderfully rendered graphic patterns. It's gorgeous work and you should come to Oddmall and see it if you're in town.

Oddmall will feature over 150+ vendors selling odd and unusual arts and crafts, carnival-esque performances, and a fleet of food trucks. It'll be a fun way to kick off fall.

I hear there's a costume contest, so if you're itching to try out your Halloween threads, here is your chance!

Urban Craft Uprising 2013 Summer Show: This Weekend!

Whew!

Been finishing up some last minute preparations and pieces for this weekend's Urban Craft Uprising Summer Show. I've been a fan/attendee of this event for years, so I'm especially thrilled to take part as a vendor.

If you haven't been to a UCU event, mark it on your calendar and go!

The show will feature 100+ vendors selling extremely well-crafted accessories, home goods, jewelry, clothing, food, art--you name it.

I'll have some new pieces to add to my current inventory, along with special pricing on select pieces (read: sale prices!).

I'm particularly fond of these new Oxidized Silver Disc Rings.

Read up on the show and check out the vendor line up on UCU's website:

Fremont Fair 2013

Thanks to all who stopped by the Knuckle Kiss booth at Fremont Fair! The event went well thanks to help from my husband Ben and some amazing friends, the great weather, and the awesome folks who stopped by.

We had a few booth changes over the course of the weekend and settled on a layout that seemed to work well.

The sign above is Ben's fabulous handiwork: the Knuckle Kiss logo on plywood with gold spraypaint. Raw and refined, just like the collection. We're working on creating more contrast between the blonde wood and the gold paint, but I think we're on the right track. My talented pal Rebecca Guss designed the logo. (She has a vintage shop on Etsy called Kyooreo! You should check it out!)

U-shaped layout on Saturday

We switched to an L-shaped layout on Sunday. This made browsing easier for passersby.

Ben laying on the charm.

The always adorable Rocio rocking some Textured Disc Post Earrings.

Do you like my hands!? I saw a pair in the window of Red Light and asked a salesperson if I could buy them.  It was a no-go so searched Ebay and ordered my own!

Hope to see you at Urban Craft Rising next month! And remember, if you signed up for the mailing list, you're in the running for a $20 credit on any item in my Etsy store!

Happy Summer,
Angela
